Manuel Madariaga, 81, of Nampa, passed away January 3rd, 2020: Manuel was born in Forua, Vizcaya, Spain, on August 17th, 1938, to Pedro Madariaga and Dionisa Oleveaga.
He came to the United States in 1966 to herd sheep. He worked for Wood Creek Sheep Company; Idaho Meat Packers, Kiems, and Meridian Meat and Sausage until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed going camping, spending time with his Basque friends, and playing Mus and Briska (Basque card games). He won several Mus tournaments.
He married Marianne Larrondo on June 2nd, 1973, in Boise, Idaho. He is survived by his wife Marianne, son Nicolas, daughter Lisa, and grandson Caden. He is also survived by his brothers, Pablo and Faustino, sisters, Begona and Evagolina, and several nieces and nephews in Spain and the United States. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Juan and Jose lgancio, and sisters Madalyn and Beatrice.
Church services will be held Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Nampa, Idaho, at 1 PM.
Memorials may be to the Basque Center, 601 Grove Street, Boise, Idaho, or your favorite charity.
