He was surrounded by his daughter, Cynthia Boline & her husband, Steve & many of their friends.
His marriage to Beverly Kliever was on Dec 26, 1962, and they were married for 60 years until Beverly passed. The two of them met while both were graduate students at USC in the early 1960s. They are survived by a son, Stuart (& his children: Zach, Ethan, & Lauren) & a daughter, Cynthia (& her children: Kyle, Clara), as well as his older sister, Kay.
He enjoyed doing quality work. With master’s degrees in both geology & petroleum engineering, Neil worked for Chevron & then Occidental Petroleum. Thusly employed, he & his family moved all over California & overseas near Aberdeen, Scotland before returning to the US (CA & TX). Neil retired to Boise, ID because of his love for tennis & fishing.
Neil joined the tennis club in Boise when he moved here in 1994, building lasting friendships with his buddies there & continuing to play tennis until he was about 83 yrs old. Fishing was another life long love; he tied flies & both fly fished & cast fished for a lifetime. He also had great prowess with technology, focusing the decades after retirement learning a plethora of computer skills—his friends benefited from his knowledge frequently.
He is remembered as a generous, helpful, quiet man who gave wise counsel, but only when asked.
Neil leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and a spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A private family burial will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise, Idaho.
