It is with profound sadness that we share the news, Kenneth L. Matthews ("Kenny"), passing on Sunday, June 29th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Corner Stone Senior Living in Boise, Idaho. Kenny was 88 years young.
Kenny, the youngest son of Leslie and Grace Matthews of Kuna, Idaho, leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories of farm life. He was predeceased by his brothers, Larry and Leslie Matthews Jr., and his sister, Mildred Newland.
His life was a testament to the enduring power of family and friendship. His marriage to Beverly on August 17th, 1957, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Boise, was the foundation upon which he built a life filled with love and devotion. Their 68 years together were a beautiful example of enduring partnership. His six years of dedicated service in the US Army, beginning in May 1960, instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Kenny’s life was rich with experiences. He grew up on a farm in Kuna, shaping his strong work ethic and love for the land. He shared his stories with boundless enthusiasm, leaving everyone who listened feeling closer to him and his world. His passion for hunting, whether with a firearm or longbow, was a testament to his connection with nature. He generously shared his passion and possessions with friends and family. He was a gifted dancer, a skill that led him to meet the love of his life, Beverly.
Beyond his passions, Kenny cherished his time at Bishop Kelly High School. The faculty, staff, and students were a source of great joy for him; it was truly his home away from home.
Kenny is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly; his daughter, Linda Feil, his son, Darin Matthews; his grandchildren, Chelsea (and husband Jonathan), Brandon (and wife Alex), Jennifer, Danielle, and Justin; and his great-grandchildren, Frankie, Ivy, and Adam. He adored each and every one of them, and he was immensely proud of the family he helped build. To his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law – he cherished you all deeply.
A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held on July 15th at 11:00 AM at Bishop Kelly High School, 7009 Franklin Rd., Boise, ID 83704. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kenny Matthews’ name to Bishop Kelly High School.
To Kenny from your loving wife, Until we meet again my Love, Thank you for a lifetime of love and memories. Loved you then, love you now, love you forever… Bev
