The Hearts Behind Bowman Funeral Directors
The Heart Behind Bowman Funeral Directors
When families walk through the doors of Bowman Funeral Directors, they are often experiencing one of the most difficult moments in their lives. My goal has always been simple: to make sure no family has to face that moment alone.
My name is Lori Wilkey, and I am the owner and mortician at Bowman Funeral Directors, proudly serving families in Boise, Idaho and the surrounding communities. Funeral service is more than just my profession — it’s something I’ve dedicated my life to for over 22 years.
Where My Journey Began
My journey in funeral service began with my father, who first taught me the importance of caring for families during difficult times. Learning from him showed me that funeral service is not just about arrangements it’s about compassion, respect, and helping people when they need it most. Those early lessons stayed with me and helped guide the path that eventually became my life’s work.
A Life Dedicated to Serving Families
Over the past 22 years, I’ve worked in many different roles within the funeral home. Each position gave me valuable experience and a deeper understanding of how to support families through loss. Working in multiple positions allowed me to learn every aspect of funeral service from caring for loved ones behind the scenes to guiding families through planning meaningful services. Those experiences eventually led me to where I am today serving as a mortician and owner of Bowman Funeral Directors, helping families throughout Boise and the Treasure Valley during some of life’s most difficult moments.
The Team Behind the Care
While I am proud of the journey that brought me here, I know that none of this would be possible without the incredible staff at Bowman Funeral Directors. Funeral service is truly a team effort, and I am fortunate to work alongside people who share the same dedication to compassion, professionalism, and service.
Every member of our team plays an important role in caring for the families who trust us during difficult times. Their commitment, kindness, and attention to detail are a big part of what allows us to provide the level of care our community deserves. I am deeply grateful for the team that stands beside me every day to serve families in Boise and the Treasure Valley.
Why This Work Matters to Me
People sometimes ask how someone chooses a career in funeral service. For me, it has always been about helping others during some of life’s hardest moments. Every life deserves to be honored with dignity, and every family deserves patience, compassion, and understanding. Being able to guide families through planning a meaningful farewell is something I consider a true privilege.
