Walker Lee Roles
Walker Lee Roles passed away on April 10, 2022, in Boise, Idaho peaceably at home with his daughter Connie at his side.
Walker was born in Boise City, Oklahoma on September 25, 1929. Walker was the second of three brothers born to Samuel and Lillian Wilson.
The family moved many times looking for a suitable place to raise the three boys. In his youth he worked many jobs to help with family finances. One of his jobs was in a stock yard as a stock checker in 1947 before joining the U.S. Army as a medic four years later during the Korean War. He served our country from 1951-1953. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he began working for the VA Hospital in Colorado.
Walker moved his young family to Boise, Idaho answering a call to work at the Boise VA Hospital as a surgical nurse during the early sixties. Walker loved serving the veterans medical needs as a nurse and was highly respected by his peers in his skill set. He retired from the VA Hospital in 1972.
Walker enjoyed nature and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He would often reminisce about his times camping and enjoying the outdoors with his two brothers. Walker was a devoted father and always included family in his nature adventures.
Walker’s favorite hobby was caring for his trophy Dahlia Garden. He entered many of the Idaho State Fair competitions and came away with many ribbons for his efforts in the garden. He would regularly supply the Cloverdale Seventh-day Adventist Church with table displays of beautiful Dahlias at their potlucks. This tradition was highly appreciated by the Church membership that he was a faithful member of for over 60 years.
Walker committed his “free” time to serving his Church’s youth ministry as a Pathfinder Leader for over 56 years. The church has committed to building and naming a special room for the Boise Pathfinder Club and naming this room the WALKER ROLES PATHFINDER CLUBHOUSE.
Walker has six children Connie Otis and Raymond Roles and two stepsons, John, and Stewart LaRocque. Walker and his wife adopted two girls Angela and Shelly.
Walker is preceded in death by his mother Lillian, brother Walter, and daughter Shelly Meyers.
Those who know Walker know him as a very giving and loving man and was always willing to give what he had, especially his time. Walker loved life and always wished the best for everyone he knew. Walker will be greatly missed especially by those who knew him as Mr. Pathfinder in the Cloverdale Seventh-day Adventist Church youth ministry.
In lieu of flowers the Roles Family respectfully requests that you donate to the Boise Pathfinder Club. Memorial Services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery on May 2 at 1 PM and at the Cloverdale Adventist Church on May 14, at 4 PM. All who knew Walker in the Pathfinder youth ministry and Boise community are invited to attend.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.

April 13, 2022 at 7:59 amWalker was a valuable member of the Cloverdale Seventh-day Adventist church. He was a leader in Pathfinders, and changed many young lives for the better. His dahlias were spectacular and won ribbons at the fair. He raised chickens for the best organic eggs. He was a good helper at Fellowship meals and I will miss our conversations.

April 21, 2022 at 8:35 amWalker also raised many foster kids and was a mentor to many others both in and out of Pathfinders (myself included) I spent many years tending cattle with him, hunting with him, and we went backpacking together when he was 79. A great man, and a very close family friend to my family. He will be missed.

April 27, 2022 at 2:41 pmWalker has been part of my life since my baptism in 1985. Soon after my baptism, I heard about a group (Pathfinders) who attended the 1985 Camporee in Red Rocks, Colorado. I knew God had plans for my life when he introduced me to Walker & Pathfinders. We spent many years in youth ministries together. Walker was my mentor, confidant, and teacher. Walker you made life fun, made me laugh and smile though some tough times and will always hold you dear to my heart. We love and miss you, and can’t wait for our Pathfinder reunion in heaven.

May 2, 2022 at 1:10 pm“So sorry to hear of Walker Roles passing. He was one of those legendary figures that just seemed like he should live forever. I am looking forward to seeing him in heaven when Jesus comes again to give all his children eternal life with Him.
Walker was the first person I met at my first Pathfinder Leadership Conference. He greeted me and welcomed me. I will never forget his kindness.
I continued to see him at the conference Pathfinder events. Every Pathfinder remembers his shamburgers, and his smile!”
I, like Cathy Ford stated, “can’t wait for our Pathfinder reunion in heaven!”
In lieu of flowers the Roles Family respectfully requests that you donate to the Boise Pathfinder Club.
