Vivien Archer Prinz
Vivien Archer Prinz was born on 12/12/12 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho to parents Cindy Maestas and Mark Prinz and resided in Eagle, Idaho. Soon after she was born, her year-old sister Evelyn named her “Boo” for some unknown reason and that became the nickname her entire family called her.
Vivien showed signs of developmental delay from an early age and she spent a lot of time going to Doctors doing all kinds of tests, diagnostics and therapies – blood draws, x rays, MRI’s, EEGs and so much more. Cindy and Mark took her to all kinds of children’s doctors in Boise looking for potential causes but there were unable to diagnose her with anything. Eventually after traveling multiple times to Seattle Children’s hospital and consulting with some of the most specialized Doctors and researchers in the United States, the family discovered via gene exome sequencing that Vivien had a very rare metabolic disease that would lead to progressive neurological and physical decline and was not curable.
Over the next many years Vivien’s family and their friends took the best possible care of her. She had a wonderful team of doctors and caregivers who did everything they could to make her life as comfortable as possible. Before her eventual decline, Vivien most enjoyed spending time with her family –bike and stroller rides with Mom, being carted around and taking naps with her Dad, scooter rides with Grandpa, lots of quiet time, stories read and hair brushed by her Grandmother, and warm showers and massages from her nurse Devin as well as fun visits from her Aunt Jen and Grandma Cathy. Vivien loved music, having books read to her and crawling around to try and climb anything she could. As Vivien began to decline, many friends and extended family spent time with her to help out with her round-the-clock care.
Through all her challenges, Vivien continually exhibited a tremendous strength of both body and spirit and her gorgeous smile would light up a room. Her resilience and endurance as she experienced the worst aspects of her disease was nothing short of remarkable. There never was a tougher kid.
Vivien succumbed to her disease on July 20th, 2022 at 9 years old. She is survived by her parents, Mark Prinz and Cindy Maestas from Eagle ID, her sister Evelyn Prinz of Eagle, Idaho, her half-sister Emberly Prinz of Boise ID, her maternal Grandparents Carl and Lynne Maestas from Eagle, ID, her paternal Grandmother Cathy Mora from McCloud, CA, her maternal Uncle Geoff Maestas and his daughter (her cousin) Ray Leigh Maestas from Boise ID, her paternal Aunt and Uncle Jennifer and Paul Woods from McCloud, CA and numerous extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Eagle United Methodist Church, 651 N. Eagle Rd. in Eagle.
