Troy Andrew Dyer
February 15, 1972 – September 28, 2024
It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of devoted father, and beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Troy Andrew Dyer at the age of 52.
Above all else, Troy cherished his daughter Ellie. In the ten short years they had together she was the center of his world and his greatest joy in life. He loved being a dad. He was endlessly doting, compassionate and engaged, and never missed an opportunity to tell Ellie he loved her, always cemented with a kiss on her forehead.
Troy is predeceased by his mother, Myrna, survived by his daughter Ellie, father Rick and stepmom Judy, brother Corey (Sarah) and niece and nephews Luke, Aly and Wesley and Ellie’s mom, Shelbi. His absence will be deeply felt by his many aunts, uncles and cousins and all who had the privilege of calling him a friend.
Born in Dallas, Texas, Troy attended high school in Charlotte, North Carolina and is a graduate of the University of Alabama. To those who knew him, Troy’s personality was larger than life. He was profoundly loyal with a big heart and a sharp sense of humor; and had a way of making everyone laugh. His love of Alabama football was deeply connected with the love he had for his friends, with bonds that were forged over decades of friendship and extended across hundreds of miles. As young kids, Troy and his older brother Corey played endless hours of football with their neighborhood friends in Dallas, that athleticism translated into him being a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams, and he later became an avid runner and golfer.
Troy’s compassion extended beyond his family and friends, and he always held a special place in his heart and in his home for rescue animals. As a spiritual person, he found strength, solace and community in his church and will be buried next to his loving mom in Plano, Texas. He has left a void that cannot be filled but we will forever cherish the memories we made with him.
Rest in peace, Troy.
