Theodore John Heistuman passed away peacefully at home in Boise, Idaho, on March 15, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was 94. Ted is survived by his children Christine Thomas (Tom), Cathy Hennig, Greg Heistuman, JoAnn Newcomb (Dawn Mack), Bob Heistuman (Dawn), Laura Heistuman (Kim McGill), Paulette Jones (Griffin). Grandpa loved, enjoyed, and is survived by 15 grandchildren and is predeceased by one granddaughter. GGpa was very proud of his 34 great-grandchildren.
Upon graduation from high school in Seattle, WA, Ted joined the Navy in May 1945. He served at Whidbey Island, WA and Barber’s Point, Honolulu, Hawaii. He married the love of his life, Monica Kiewatt, in Honolulu in September 1951. They were married for 68 years at the time of Monica’s passing.
Upon discharge from the Navy, Ted and Monica returned to Arcata, CA where they started a family and Ted joined the family business, Heistuman Mill. He worked for several mills in the Arcata area.
As Ted approached his retirement years, he and Monica discovered a love for golf. They enjoyed many golf events and trips with friends and as a couple.
Ted liked being funny for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would light up when the littles came to visit. His playful personality was enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City, Idaho, on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
