Susana Alicia Carbajal Despain
Susana Alicia Carbajal Despain returned to heaven June 16, 2019, after a 28-month battle against cancer. She was born on January 5, 1953, in Rosario, Argentina, to Elena Rodriguez and Osvaldo Carbajal. Susana attended Brigham Young University and studied nursing and Spanish. She also served an LDS mission to Argentina, Buenos Aires North. On August 12, 1977, Susana married Richard C. Despain in the Salt Lake City Temple.
She considered her six children her greatest success. She adored her family and grandchildren and always busied herself taking care of their needs with unconditional love. “Grandma Susy” was an inspiration and strength to everyone who knew her. Susana will be remembered for her compassion and for readily opening up her heart and home to anyone.
Susy is survived by her husband, Rick; mother, Elena; brother, Ricardo Carbajal and his wife, Julia; children, David and his wife, Patricia; Ryan and his wife, Summer; Cherie and her husband, Jon Hoeger; Michelle and her husband, Christopher Hoeger; Casey and his wife, Candice; and 19 grandchildren (soon to be 20). She was preceded in death by her son, Chris, and her father, Osvaldo.
A viewing will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June 19, 2019, and funeral services will follow at noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2515 W. Ustick Rd., in Meridian, Idaho. A graveside service will be held the following day at 11 am, Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Lindon City Cemetery at 600 N. 200 E., in Lindon, Utah.
