Ronald Lee Lysinger, father, husband, grandpa and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the age of 83. Ron was born September 23, 1935 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Don and Zoe Lysinger.
When he was 10 years old his family moved to Fruitland, Idaho. Ron was your typical 50’s troublemaker. He wore his cigarettes rolled up in his shirt sleeve and as legend has it, he almost got into a fistfight with Elvis at the Flamingo casino in Las Vegas. After graduating from Fruitland high school in 1953, he joined the Air National Guard where he was assigned to the 124th fighter group. He loved to waterski behind his Chris-Craft boat and was known for skiing the entire length of any lake. It was on one of those ski trips in 1962 that his cousin Nancy, introduced him to a girl named Edwina, who turned out to be the love of his life. They were married in 1963. Following in the footsteps of his wife, he went to school to become an anesthetist. They worked alongside each other at St. Luke’s hospital for 45 years where they made many lifelong friends. Ron loved many things, hunting with his son Ron, his trips to Argentina and Mexico with his friends to hunt doves, fishing, skiing, traveling with his family, skeet shooting, meat and potatoes and cookies. He was also a founding member of a very “exclusive” gun club where they shot skeet and consumed many adult beverages. But most of all he loved his family and would do whatever it took to take care of them. He loved his wife Edwina, who he was married to for 55 years. He was also an amazing father who loved and supported his three kids in every way. Being a grandpa to his 7 grandchildren was truly one of his greatest joys.
He is survived by his wife Edwina; his son Ron (Rhonda), their kids Ron, Rebecca and Riley of New Plymouth; Mary Burke(Tim), their kids Mathew, Grace, JP and Thomas of Eagle; and Nancy Lysinger of Boise.
