Richard Riley Hagerty, 86, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away February 1, 2024. Richard was born August 1, 1937, in Los Angels, California to parents Harold and Bethane Hagerty.
Richard attended High School in Downey, California. In 1956 Richard joined the US Navy where he was a radioman on a destroyer until his honorable discharge in 1961. Later that year Richard married Bonnie Mae Munson at the Chappelle of the Bells in Las Vegas, Nevada. Richard and Bonnie remained married for nearly 62 years, until Bonnie’s passing in June of 2023.
Richard and Bonnie moved from Hemet to San Clemente, California in 1963. In 1966 Richard and family moved to San Juan Capistrano, CA. In 1976, they moved the family to Corvallis, Montana, in the Bitterroot Valley, where they had horses, a dairy cow, and a bull calf. In 1980, they moved across the valley and began building their black angus herd and raising a few Charolais calves. In 2000, Richard and Bonnie moved to Idaho, where they settled on 16 acres in Sand Hollow, and they continued to enjoy their horses, family, and being outdoors.
Richard enjoyed horse-packing trips in the Bitterroot, collecting coins, knives, firearms, hunting, and generally being outside with his animals.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Hagerty, parents, Harold and Bethane; sister, Joyce Kuester; and his brothers Bob and Eric Nosler.
He is survived by his brother Dennis Hagerty of Hamilton, Montana, children, Mark (Shawna) Hagerty of Meridian, Idaho, and Mike (Nerissa) Hagerty of Meridian, Idaho; grandsons, Dustin (Jessica) Hagerty, Ryan Hagerty and Jake Hagerty, all of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Alexis Rickers of Boise, Idaho; great granddaughter Haisley Hagerty of Boise, Idaho (daughter of Dustin (Jessica) Hagerty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be held, 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise.
