Nola “Joy” Probst was born in Park City, Utah on July 7, 1942 to Nolan and Grayce
Probst. She grew up in the tiny mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado amidst
breathtaking beauty and long, snowy winters. She graduated from Crested Butte High
School and the University of Colorado in Boulder and became a teacher. She married
Charles Greer in 1968 and they had a daughter, Jacklyn Dessie.
The family found a small house in Boise, Idaho in 1976, where she remained for the
next 47 years. After her divorce, Joy began working full-time in Accounts Payable at
Albertsons to support herself and her daughter. She retired in 2001 to spend her last
few decades quietly, enjoying nature with friends and family. She passed away on
February 5, 2023 at 80 years of age.
While in Idaho, Joy began studying the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s
Witnesses on March 12, 1978. Joy will be remembered as a devout Christian who was
never missing from meetings and the ministry, despite living with the chronic pain and
physical challenges of rheumatoid arthritis during the final decades of her life. She set a
sterling example of faithful endurance for all who knew her and will be greatly missed for
her sharp wit and mischievous sense of humor.
She was a creative artist and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, decorating, and
being beautifully dressed with striking jewelry and handbags. We look forward to seeing
her again in the earthly resurrection when “no resident will say: “I am sick” (Isaiah
33:24) and “the days of (God’s) people will be like the days of a tree, and the work of
their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full.”—Isaiah 65:22. She leaves behind
her beloved sister Marilyn Rozman (Johnny) and her “kids”: daughter Dessie, son-in-law
John, and grandson Jack.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 3:00pm at the Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2029 N Shamrock Ave, Boise, ID.
