Michael L. Ewing, 70, of Eagle, Idaho passed away April 20, 2024. Mike was born, September 2, 1953 in San Pedro, California and lived there for several years. As his dad was in the military, Mike moved to a number of states on the mainland and spent about 5 years living on the North Shore of Oahu before Hawaii became a state. He had so many fond memories of living there, in particular, and often returned to Hawaii for vacations.
Mike was a proud graduate of UCLA with a degree in Political Science. If you knew Mike, you knew he loved to talk about world affairs and he did so with great knowledge and passion.
Mike met and married Kathy in Valencia, CA and they made their lives in that area for about 1O years.
Eventually, they came to Eagle, Idaho to make their home and would eventually retire there. Mike served on the homeowner’s board and at one time was the president of the HOA. He had a very positive impact on the community and was a valuable member, counting many friends in the neighborhood.
Mike was a proud Veteran and served honorably in the Navy, working at the Pentagon on the personal staff of the Chief of Naval Operations during the Viet Nam war. He truly enjoyed his time serving his country. He met and enjoyed other Veterans in the area, having a standing breakfast with them twice a week.
His parents, Bob and Joan, predeceased him and he is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Lauren, brother Bob, sister Pat, nieces, a nephew and their children. He will be missed.
A viewing will be held, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City. A committal service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise.
