On Wednesday, November 11, 2020 (Veteran’s Day), Matthew Harrison was tragically killed in a head-on collision driving home from the 245th birthday party of the Marine Corps. He was 28 years old.
Matthew was born to Mike and Lise Harrison on May 13, 1992 in Butte, Montana, a state he always held dear to his heart. Matthew was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served as a tank commander of the 4th Tank Battalion. He was a natural leader, avid pilot, skilled carpenter, expert marksman, and talented guitarist. Matthew was always an adventurer. As a boy, he explored the mountains surrounding his childhood farm, and went on to summit Mount Rainer, Mount Hyndman and other peaks. He was an all-around outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, skiing and mountain biking.
Matt had a heart of gold, and was loved by all who knew him. He was a proud Marine, and the most loyal and caring person you’d ever meet. Matt was a lover of wisdom, friend of animals, and master of wit. He loved making others laugh. His gentle spirit had a way of drawing people in, while his big smile and uninhibited laugh could light up a room.
Matthew leaves behind his parents Mike and Lise, sisters Sarah and Ruthie, their husbands Rich and Danny, Grandma Ethel, and four nieces. Our family will never fill the hole Matthew left and he will be missed by many, but we know we will see him again. Semper Fidelis, Marine.
Matthew’s funeral service will be Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10:00am at Bowman Funeral Directors, 10254 W Carlton Bay, Garden City, ID, 83714. Flowers or donations can be sent to 9415 Dewey Road, Emmett, ID 83617.

November 19, 2020 at 2:39 pmThis loss is hard to fathom right now. I am SO SAD!! Matt was one of the trades working on Susan and my new home construction. He was one of our favorite trades because he was totally committed to helping us. He was extremely knowledgeable. In fact the day of Matt’s death, I was in his office visiting with him. I didn’t know he was a proud Marine. R.I.P. Marine. ?☹️
