MATTHEW DAVIS RIEGER May 23, 1980 - May 2, 2019

Matthew Davis Rieger, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend to so many, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Boise.  Matt was born in Boise, Idaho on May 23, 1980 to Gordon and Leslie Rieger.

Matt was a much welcomed addition to our family. He was born on a rainy morning as Mount St. Helen erupted and it has been quite a ride!  Matt was a very intelligent, fun loving, adventurous guy.  He loved anything outdoors.  As a child he participated in soccer, baseball, high school wrestling, Optimist football, swim team and both snow and water skiing.  He taught snow skiing to children at Bogus Basin when he was in high school.  He was a dare devil and always pushed himself to the max.

He graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Finance and was employed by Etrade Financial for 12 years.  During that time he lived in North Carolina and Utah, as well as two years in the Philippines where he established and ran a successful call center for Etrade.  His last title at Etrade was Sr. Manager, Performance Management.  But he was best known as both a trainer and a training manager.  There are a lot of people at Etrade that Matt helped launch their careers and they remember him fondly.

He will be forever loved and missed by his parents, Gordon and Leslie Rieger of Cascade; his sister, Angie, her partner and best friend, Sebastian Watt-Hayes of Meridian; his two nieces, Alison and Aubrey Randolph of Meridian.  His nieces absolutely adored him and he adored them.  He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Barbara and Bob Lewis of Boise, his aunt Lexie Anderson of Bellevue Idaho, numerous cousins and most importantly, his beautiful son, Austin Matthew Rieger of Boise.

Hug your children whenever you can and always say I love you everyday to the people you love!

Matt would want to have a casual send off.  There will be a Celebration of Life at the Ford Idaho Center in the Rodeo Club (16200 N Idaho Center Blvd, Nampa) on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 1:00-4:00pm. Enter the building at Entry 3 and take the elevator up to the Rodeo Club.  Please feel free to bring a story to share. We know that Matt would love to be the center of attention.

We love you Matt, always and forever.  Now you are no longer troubled by life and your mind is finally at peace.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a fund that has been established for his son, Austin.  Donations may be made to any U.S. Bank to the Matthew Davis Rieger Memorial Fund.  All proceeds will be for Austin Rieger. Please contact Leslie, Gordon or Angie if you have questions about this fund for Austin.
