Mary Lee Biggers May 3, 1937 - February 4, 2022

Mary Lee Biggers was born May 3, 1937 at home in Emmett, Idaho to Frank and Esther Heavrin. She passed away on February 4th, 2022 at Grace Assisted Living from cancer. She was the oldest of six children. She grew up and went to high school in Cascade, Idaho until the 11th grade. She then married Kenneth Biggers on November 21, 1954 and they were married for 65 years until Dad passed away. They had 2 daughters, Connie (Lowry) and Darlene (Densley).

Dad and Mom lived in Gardena, Emmett, Fruitland, and finally settled in Boise. Mom worked for the Boise School District in the cafeteria at Collister Elementary and she also cleaned houses.

When the girls were older, Mom decided to go back to school to get her GED so she could go to nursing school. She completed her LPN course from BSU Vo-Tech in the 1970s. Mom’s first job was on the medical-surgical floor at St. Luke’s downtown. She then transferred to the newborn nursery where she loved working with the babies. In 1976 Dr. Jim Hirschfeld recruited Mom to come and work at Pediatric Associates. She continued to work there for over 30 years until she retired. During this time, Mom formed lasting friendships with the other nurses and receptionists that continued to this day. The group of friends started going to the M-M and Rodeo Grounds Ranch in Stanley, Idaho where Mom’s father worked in the 1990s. They had a wonderful time sewing, playing games, enjoying the mountains, and eating. This tradition lasted for 30 years.

Dad and Mom loved to square dance and round dance. She sewed all of her own dresses and most of Dad’s shirts, making sure they matched. He never complained if that meant wearing a pink or purple shirt! They danced in Boise, Nampa, and down south where they went for the winters.

Dad and Mom were active members of Parkview Christian Church (formerly known as University Christian Church) for over 60 years. Mom was a deaconess and loved to sing in the church choir.

Mom loved camping in the summers, sewing with her sisters every spring and fall, and playing with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Mom was a huge part of all our lives; we will miss her so much!

Mom is survived by her daughters, Connie (Dave Lowry) and Darlene (Tom Densley). Her siblings, Larry and Joyce Heavrin, Don and Jane’t Heavrin, Audrey (Butch deceased) Hall  Bonnie and Dave DeChenne, and Wilma (Chick deceased) Coelho, 6 grandkids, and 10 great-grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Esther Heavrin, her husband, Kenneth Biggers, and grandson Nate Lowry.

We would like to thank the staff and nurses at Grace Assisted Living who lovingly took take of Mom. Also, All Care Hospice who at the end of her life also lovingly cared for Mom.

Services will be held at Parkview Christian Church, 201 W Ustick Rd. Meridian, ID 83646 on February 12th at 11:00am under the direction of Bowman Funeral Home.

We will miss seeing Mary Lee in Stanley at the Rodeo Grounds each fall. She was always so welcoming and warm. Mary Lee took genuine interest in our lives. We always looked forward to her delicious treats which she generously shared, and we ate WAY too many of because they were so delicious. We will treasure our quilt that Mary Lee and the nurses made for us and all our fond memories of us visiting in the RGR home and the walks on Cow Camp Road with her in the early days.
