Marjorie Bolstridge February 28, 1923 - January 29, 2021

Marjorie Avonne (Pryoer) Bolstridge

Marjorie Avonne (Pryor) Bolstridge, daughter of Ralph Slidell Pryor and Ruby Cecelia (Schmidt) Pryor, was born on February 28,1923 in Vandalia, Illinois.

Marjorie and her family lived in Vandalia, Illinois until 1935, when they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1936, they moved to Nampa, Idaho, where her father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Marjorie attend- ed Nampa High School and graduated in 1941.

After high school, Marjorie was employed as a telephone operator for the Mountain States Telephone Company, located within Dewey Palace in Nampa, Idaho.

On September 16, 1942 in Boise, Idaho — on a ‘blind date’ arranged by friends — Marjorie met the love of her life: Charles Bolstridge, who was stationed at Gowen Field in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His first impression of Marge was: “She was a REALLY sweet, good-lookin’ gal! I liked her very, very much!”

Marjorie and Charles were married on January 31, 1943 in Oxnard, CA. They were of America’s Greatest Generation, who endured the Great Depression and World War II, and they developed great resilience.

Marjorie graciously handled the many challenges and responsibilities of military life, while nurturing their family of five children during Charles’ 20-year U.S. Air Force career. Frequent military moves took Marge and Charles’ family to: California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas.

In 1965, Marge and Charles returned with their family to live in Nampa, Idaho. After retirement, they lived in Sun City West, Arizona, and finally, in Boise, Idaho. Marge and Charles remained active their entire lives: traveling and enjoying outdoor activities and hobbies together, “snowbirding” in Arizona, walking every day together, and socializing with friends and acquaintances at Boise Towne Square Mall.

On January 29, 2021, at the age of 97, Marjorie passed away at home with family, from natural causes. Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Charles Bolstridge; her parents, Ralph and Ruby (Schmidt) Pryor; and a brother, Donald Wayne Pryor.

Marjorie is survived by her five children: Ellen (Michael) LaVaccare of Rio Vis- ta, CA; Zenda Hill of Boise, ID; Wallace Bolstridge of Nampa, ID;           Terry Bolstridge of Boise, ID; Nancy (Terry) Lutz of Eagle, ID; and 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will forever miss our beautiful, gentle, loving, smiling, and beloved Mom and Grandma.

Marjorie’s family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke’s and Horizon Hospice for their compassionate care.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.

Marjorie’s requests for a private family service and cremation are being honored.
