Lorene Joyce Pearl
Lorene was born on April 2, 1937, in a small house across from the Pacific Ocean in Yachats, Oregon to Paul Franklin Faulkner and Neva Blanche (Howell) Faulkner. At the age of 2, Lorene and her 3 brothers lost their father to an illness. A few years later, Lorene’s mom married Gayle Van Vleet and Lorene was blessed to have a baby sister.
Throughout her school years, the family moved from Sutherlin, OR to Smith River, OR to Cottage Grove, OR to Coos Bay, OR and finally to Coquille, OR, where she graduated from Coquille High School.
Lorene went to Bible Missionary Institute in Rock Island, Illinois. To earn a little extra money, Lorene would iron the shirts of other students for 10 cents apiece. One of these other students, Jim Pearl, had her iron his clothes so he could go on a date. It was not long before Lorene began dating Jim and on April 16, 1965 Lorene married James Edward Pearl.
Lorene loved many things in life, but she first and always loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, her love for her family was unmatched. James and Lorene had six children. Everything in her life revolved around her love for Christ and her love for her family.
Lorene ran an at home day-care for years so that she could be home when her kids got home from school. As her kids grew up, she decided to get a job at St. Luke’s Hospital. She began in housekeeping, but soon had the desire to return to school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Lorene enjoyed helping people and making them feel more comfortable in the hospital until she retired.
After Lorene retired, she was still extremely active in the life of her church, but also in the life of each of her grandchildren. James and Lorene would always have a group of the grandkids over or would take a group camping during the summer. Lorene wouldn’t miss one of the grandkids games, school plays, recitals, orchestra concerts or any opportunity to have a kid spend the night.
Lorene was preceded in death by her father, Paul Franklin, mother Neva (Howell) Van Vleet, a brother, Marvin Faulkner, and a sister, Doris “Dee” Patterson.
Lorene is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James Pearl of Garden City, ID, two brothers, Norman and Vivian Faulkner of Surprise Valley, AZ and Paul and Ann Faulkner of Pocatello, ID, six kids, Dennis and Jane Pearl of Mountain Home, ID, Melody and Scott Jamison of Spokane, WA, Tim and Denise Pearl of Vancouver, WA, James and Angela Pearl of Meridian, ID, Kevin and Stephanie Pearl of Boise, ID, and Scott and Sue Pearl of Nampa, ID. She also leaves behind her 10 loved grandchildren and her 3 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 150 W. Maestra St. in Meridian, with visitation at the church beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Meridian.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made to “A New Beginning Adoption Agency” to help others find a loving family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you in the passing of sweet Lorene. My daughter went to her daycare when she was little. Lorene was a special person with a strong, strong love of Christ and always doing for, and thinking of, others. She had a beautiful smile. Take comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord Jesus Christ and all the angels. We are thinking of you.
