Leandro Jesus Velazquez, better known as Chuy, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 in Boise, Idaho. He is survived by his children, granddaughter, siblings and various nieces and nephews.
Chuy was born on August 18, 1966, to Elvira and Ramon Velazquez in the small town of Acaponeta located in the state of Nayarit, Mexico. At the age of six, Leandro moved to Southern California with his parents and siblings. As a teenager he was a regular at the gym, an avid break-dancer, and budding businessman. On May 11, 1989, he married Leticia Cota, with whom he welcomed three children, Leticia, Jesse, and Jessica.
At an early age, Chuy developed a passion for flashy and eye-catching cars. His very first car was a bright red convertible mustang. He loved cars so much he decided to dedicate his career to them and opened his first auto body shop in his early 20’s with his brother Gerardo. He went on to become an entrepreneur who opened many successful businesses in the auto industry.
In the early 2000’s, Chuy and his family moved to Boise, Idaho, and animated most of his siblings to move as well. It is here where Chuy lived the last 15 years of his life surround by his family and friends. Chuy was known as a happy and generous man who went out of his way to take care of his loved ones. He was the life of the party with his stories, jokes, and dancing skills. No matter what life threw at Chuy, he never let it stop him, and he would build himself back up even stronger. Chuy was a devoted son, brother, and father. He will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing to know him.
