Lawrence (Larry) Robert Carson May 13, 1975 - August 26, 2020

Lawrence “Larry” Robert Carson, age 45, left this earth on August 26, 2020.

He was born in Tacoma, Washington on May 13, 1975 to parents Lawrence John Carson II and Karen Carson. He lived with his family in American Samoa when he was nine to eleven years old. Afterward they moved to Bend, Oregon for a short time before they settled in Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1993. He found his best friend and love Gena (Tomlinson) Carson in 2003 and they were married overlooking Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe, California in 2007.

He is survived by his wife Gena Carson and two sons Cade Carson and Crew Carson (Meridian, ID), parents Lawrence John Carson II and Karen Carson (Meridian, ID), brother Ryan Carson (Amy Quatman)(OR), sister Jaimee (Randy) Sohn, nieces Annabel Sohn and Madeline Sohn (Boise, ID). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence John & Mildred Carson and Robert & Leone Murphy.

Our beautiful boy, husband, father and uncle was loved and admired for his kindness toward all those who knew him. He enjoyed meeting and talking to new people and seeing the world from their eyes. He loved music and was an avid and talented drummer. In his younger years he played for the Troopers and Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed adrenaline sports including riding his dirt bike and drag racing. He was proficient in IT management.

Lawrence was passionate about shining truth and light on this earth. He savored and appreciated the little moments in life and always followed his excitement and joy. He felt most at home surrounded by the incredible Idaho mountains. His greatest happiness in life was his children and he loved creating beautiful memories with them. He will be missed in our lives very much. He is in the arms of the angels now.

The family will hold a private service on September 3, 2020 and he will be laid to rest at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.

    Oh Gena, this is terrible news! Larry was the nicest, sweetest guy! Words aren’t enough, my heart goes out to you and your beautiful boys! Larry’s passing will leave a huge hole in so many lives. Sending tears and hugs to you and your beautiful boys!

    Gena, I cannot begin to express the sincerest love to you and the boys. I marched with Larry aSanta Clara Vanguard and if he still has his corps jacket with a red cymbal on it. That was from me. We loved Larry, everything about him, and then some. Words could never make this better, but kniw he touched our lives from 26 years ago. God bless you and the boys and PLEASE never hesitate to reach out if your boys want to hear how amazing he is from us. God bless always ????❤?

    I am very sorry to hear about Larrys passing. He was an enjoyable coworker, you could always hear Larry with his shaker bottles and see him in the corner making a protein shake because he always stood at his desk. Knowing he’s gone is very sad news, I wish you and your family well in these hard times.

    I only knew Lawrence for a short amount of time, but he was such a great person. Always mentioning his two boys and how much he loved them! You’ll be missed!

    My sincere condolences to the family and friends of my buddy Larry. We marched together in the Santa Clara Vanguard drumline and we had both come from the Troopers drum corps as well. A kind and gently soul, with a sharp wit and sense of humor, Larry will be greatly missed. Much love to all who knew him and may he rest peacefully.

    I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Carson family. I marched with Larry in the Santa Clara Vanguard. In fact we stood side-by-side in the snareline. So we got to share many stories and jokes. A wonderful person with a kind soul. Rest in Rhythm brother Larry.

    Sending my sincere condolences to the Carson family in the passing of Larry, I just heard the news. I worked for Larry when I first came to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as one of the Tier I Service Operations Center technicians in OCIO. Larry was kind and thoughtful, and I found him to be supportive and understanding as a manager. Just a couple years prior to moving to Denver, we were living in Lake Tahoe, CA (Truckee), Larry and I also found common ground because I grew up playing drums and watching videos of Santa Clara Vanguard and their elaborate displays of musical choreography. Larry was a gem and although we didn’t stay in touch after moving to Idaho, I’ve thought of him often in the last few years and am very saddened to hear of his untimely passing. Cheers to you Larry! We carry the torch for you at the Service Desk at NREL. Peace be with you and your family.

    I am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Larry and I worked together at NREL in Golden years ago. He was missed when he left NREL. My love and prayers for healing go out to his family and all those who knew him.
