Larry Clifford Park – Bowman Funeral Directors

Larry Clifford Park, 72 passed away in Meridian, Idaho April 5, 2021. Larry was born in Poteau, Oklahoma on January 6, 1949 to Clifford and Edythe Park. Larry grew up in a military family along with his two siblings which took him to many locations as a small child, including Japan. Eventually Larry’s family planted roots in Victorville, CA after his father was stationed at George Air Force Base with the USAF. Larry followed in his mother’s footsteps by becoming a basketball player. He played the game in high school, college, and adult city league into his mid 30s. Larry married his love, Mony Garrett in 1971. Larry became an employee of U.S. Borax in Boron, CA in 1975 in which he had a 39 year career with the company. He was more than willing to educate anybody who would listen to “The Story of Borax”. Larry was friendly to all and never met a stranger. He was kind, compassionate, loving and generous. Larry enjoyed cooking for others, a trait shared with his father. He believed in always doing the right thing. He always gave 100% in whatever he did in life. A country boy at heart (he loved his John Deere tractor) and a dog by his side. He was loved by many and will be missed in this world.

Larry is survived by his wife Mony Park of Eagle, ID, his daughter Andrea Tilley and her husband Calvin Tilley of Meridian, ID, his son Lucas Park and his wife Jacqui Park and their children Logan and Myah of Star, ID, his brother Gayland Park and his wife Bonnie Park and their children Hayley and Heather of Apple Valley, CA, his sister Dana Kuz and her husband Danny Kuz and their children Aimee Newberg and Ashley DiGiacomo of Tucson, AZ.

A memorial service for Larry will be held at Bowman Funeral Home in Garden City, ID on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Mountain time with a live stream option available at bowmanfuneral.com. There will be a reception following at his and Mony’s home in Eagle, ID. Larry will be laid to rest at a later date at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, ID (in a John Deere urn per Larry’s request).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Larry’s name to either the “Wounded Warrior Project” https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue http://www.marleysmutts.org.

Larry was my best friend in my youth. 1st grade through college, we had my wonderful experiences. I will greatly miss him. My best to the family.

I was childhood friends with Larry through Robert Haysley. Larry was admired by his peers for his high moral and character traits and his outstanding athletic ability. He was truly exceptional person. Prayers and deepest condolence to his family and friends.

I knew Larry prior to US Borax as well as his spouse Monte and brother Grayland. Have lost touch with Larry and family since my retirement. I remember playing basketball with him and Gayland in VictorVille. Worked with Larry in the pilot plant and shared supervisors roll in the process at U S Borax. Car pooled together from VictorVille to the plant in Boron. Always a good attitude and outlook on work and life. Will always remember him.

    So sorry to hear you ha b e left us. Wish we could have found out sooner. We were friends in 4th grade til forever My parents and his were best friends spent many Thanksgiving and Chtistmas’ together..He was a good man and we will miss him. Mony so so sorry to hear Larry passed wish we all would have stayed in touch. Love and prayers for you and your family.

Sincere condolences to the Park family. Hung out with his brother Gaylene as we were best friends and knew Larry to be smarter than Gaylene and I. A tall man on the basketball court cool and level headed man. Will be missed by many I’m sure. He set a good example for his brother and his friend.

I worked with Larry for many years. We both were working in the Pilot Plant at Boron in 1976-77. In 1977 we both became salaried and were assigned to the Dissolving Plant (Plant 1). I recall when Larry and I were splitting 12 hour shifts, 7 days per week. All the while, Larry was moving from Victorville to Tehachapi and I had the flu; we both were a mess. Later Larry was All Plants Supervisor and I was the Training Manager.. For a while z9when our schedules matched) we car pooled from Tehachapi to Boron. Larry had this little yellow Toyota that despite many many miles, never quit. The last time I saw Larry we were both living in Bear Valley Springs; Larry (who was a volunteer) was checking water runoff through the lakes. Larry was a good friend.

Very sad news about Larry Park. He was an outstanding individual and Supervisor at US Borax. He always had a smile on his face and a positive outlook about life. Condolences to Larry’s family and friends. Rest In Peace Larry.

Larry and I were close friends for many years.
We worked together at U, S. Borax and when I first joined the management team, Larry was my trainer. He was a great leader and served as my mentor and advisor throughout my career.
He was always there for me whenever I needed advice about anything. I always tried to copy him as he was the best leader that I ever met. He was jokingly called “Scary Larry”, but he actually was always firm, fair, professional, caring, and honest with everyone he came into contact with. I knew if I followed his guidance, I would succeed in my professional life.
Beyond work, Larry was also a very close friend. I remember visiting Larry and Mony at their home many times. Mony and my wife Heather worked together as teachers and whenever they had a work function, I told my wife that I hoped Larry would be there so I could hang out with him.
Larry and I also visited and went golfing many times during his healthier days. I also enjoyed meeting with him and a few other friends for lunch when he lived in the Tehachapi area.
I never met someone with such a good nature and a big heart.
I can’t imagine a world without Larry here to talk to.
I am sure there is a special place in Heaven for Larry.
I will miss him more than I can describe, but I know he is in a happy place.
I will never forget Larry. I always have and will love him like a brother.

We met Larry & Mony while visiting family in Boise, ID. They welcomed us to their beautiful home for dinner and a visit. Such welcoming and gracious people. We immediately felt like family. We were lucky enough to hear ‘The Story of Borax’ from Larry, in only the way he could tell it. We also spent time with them shopping, eating out and visiting the Eagle Field of Honor. ?? Our time with him and Mony was definitely a highlight of our trip.
You didn’t need to know Larry long to know he was a kind hearted, genuine and honest man that loved those around him very deeply. We will miss him greatly. He was one of a kind. ♥️
