Joyce Joanne Scrivner “aka Jo”, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:35am. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Joyce was blessed with 85 years of unwavering love from all who knew her.
Joyce, daughter of Charles and Mildred Turner and sister to Donna and Charles was born on September 10th in Coon Rapids, Iowa. On April 14, 1952 she married Kenneth Nichols in Canyon County, Id. Out of this union four (4) children were born. Valli Kirk, Jeff Nichols, Penni Campbell and Kenna Moore. A fifth (5th) child was born from a second union, Cindy Gardner.
Joyce graduated from Boise High School in 1951 and became a homemaker until the death of her husband Kenneth in 1958. She then went to work for Ennis Interiors and then retired from a career with Albertsons at the age of 65. After accomplishing ail of her projects she worked part-time for Eimers Restaurant.
Throughout her life Joyce enjoyed playing softball, camping, snowmobiling, showing dogs, playing Pinochle, bowling, bingo, scrabble and most of all spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her children Jeff Nichols, Penni Campbell, Kenna Moore and Cindy Gardner. Her sister Donna Whitmire and 12 grandchildren, Zach Kirk, Nick l(irk, Meghan Splittgerber, McKenzie Campbell Cahill, Royce Campbell, Trinity Waterman, Brian Squires, Kendra Day, JT Moore, Cody Scrivner, Shauntae Gardner and Venesa Starke; 15 great grandchildren, Sienna and Laren Kirk; Woodrow, Niko and Kaydenc Kirk; Milo and Zeke Splittgerber; Ray Cahill IV; Kenneth Waterman; Ivie Cook; Dawson,Sawyer and Bruin Squires; Averie and Kadie Day. Her sister-in-law Ruth Alloway, Shirley Hess and Francis Nichols. Brother-in-law Lyle Alloway and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Joyce’s husband Kenneth Nichols, daughter Valli Kirk, parents Charles and Mildred Turner, brother Chuck Conley and brother-in-laws Marvin Nichols and Bill Whitmire proceeded her in death.
Services will be held at Bowman Funeral Home located at 10254 W. Carlton Bay, Garden City, ID. Visitation will be from 10am – 11am with the funeral service to follow. Grave site burial will be held at Cloverdale Cemetery located at 1200 North Cloverdale Road directly following the service 12:30pm. Officiating will be Chaplain Tom Cizmar.
