James Edmond Vitley April 7, 1927 - October 22, 2020

On October 22, 2020, James Edmond Vitley (Ed), age 93 of Boise passed away peacefully.  On April 7th, 1927, Ed was born to James and Bessie Vitley at St. Luke’s hospital in Boise.  As a young adult he served his country in the Air Force for 4 years.  He then met the love of his life Dixie Johnson whom he was married to for 67 years.  Ed and Dixie had three sons together.  After the Air Force, Ed worked as a florist at Boise Floral for a short time and then started work at Triangle Dairy and retired at the age of 65.  After his retirement he was able to focus on his love of golf by working part time at Shadow Valley golf course.  Ed’s hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family.  Ed will be forever remembered by his wife Dixie and his three children Rob (Lynn), Tim (Deonne) and Mike.  He will also be remembered by his 9 grandchildren Corinne, Beth (Karry), Kara, Sarah (Kane), Ashley, Nick, Kayle, Megan and Tre’.  Also, his 3 great grandchildren Kelton, Olivia and Amiyah.  He is survived by his brother Joe and his sister Marcia (Vern) Green.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents James and Bessie and his siblings Tony, Junior, Josephine, Mary, and Pearl.  A graveside service will be held on Thursday October 29th at 2 o’clock in the afternoon for close family in the Veterans’ part of the Dry Creek Cemetery.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
