Jacqueline (Jackie) Smith December 29, 1942 - November 9, 2022

Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith, of Meridian, Idaho, returned home to her Heavenly Father on November 9th, 2022.

Jackie grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and attended school there.  Shortly after graduating from high school, she married William James Blazek and started her journey as a mother and wife.  She was blessed to have four children with him.  Unfortunately, that marriage would come to an end and she found herself as a single mother.  She moved her family to Seattle, Washington for work and the supporting influence of her siblings.  It was there that she met Keith Dwayne Smith.  They were married in 1972 and spent the next 50 years together.

Keith and Jackie moved to the Boise area a few years later.  It is Boise that they would consider “home” even though employment advancements and career changes would take them to Elko, Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pasco, Washington.  Ever dedicated to helping support her family, Jackie had diverse employment experiences as she did what she could to help support her family.  She worked as a grocery cashier, dress shop manager, shipping clerk, distribution office manager, debt collector, Idaho State employee, and American Greetings representative.  Her favorite jobs were to work for her brother and the cleaning business that she ran with her daughters.

Jackie’s greatest happiness was being a wife and mother until 1988 when she became a grandmother and discovered the expanded joy of that sacred role.  She deeply loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and found delight in spending time with them at family functions, camping trips, and personal visits.  She was a trusted advisor to her children as they engaged in the daily challenges of adult life and parenting.

Jackie is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Rob.  She is survived by her husband Keith; daughters Penny and Kim; sons William (Bill) and Brent; sister Karol and brother Doyle; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Funeral services for Jackie will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1450 W Cayuse Creek Drive, Meridian, ID on November 19th, 2022 at 11:00 am.  There will be an open house at the same location on Friday, November 18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a veterans organization.
