Iona Jean (Freels, Webb) Dye, Boise, Idaho
Peacefully passed away at home on July 31st, 2020. Iona was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and Susan Miller, cousin.
She was born in Wendell, Idaho on December 20, 1947 to parents Norma and Herbert Freels of Hazelton, ID. Growing up as an only child, Iona spent much of her time with her cousins on the Ellis farm. She attended Elementary school in Hazelton, ID and Valley High School in Eden, Idaho. After High School Iona attended a Financial Institute in Missouri and graduated with a degree in Financial Business.
Iona met Burton Webb Jr. and had three children, Sheri (husband Jeff) Lassiter Boise, Burton (wife Kelly) Webb III Twin Falls, and Toni Webb Boise. Iona had three step children Mike McBride, Lisa Dunkle, and Tina Lloyd. The family resided in Twin Falls, Idaho where she managed the family business, Burton Webb & Sons, Quality Roofers for approximately 20 years. She enjoyed her weekend outings with the family, boating, water skiing, fishing, and camping in the mountains.
Her favorite pastimes were getting lost in a good book, bowling with her mother and attending state championships. Iona’s favorite vacation was when she, Sheri, and her mother flew to Hawaii. She always talked about Don Ho and macadamia nuts!
Being a part of the Ellis family, Iona participated in the opening of the Landmark Restaurant and shared the success with her best friend Don Ellis. Iona, Sheri, and “Donnie” became inseparable and traveled to several countries and states until his death. Their memories were everlasting.
In 1991 Iona and family moved to Boise, Idaho where she shared a home with Susan and family. Iona and Susan took many family vacations together with their children, to include Disney Land, Utah, Phoenix, and camping. Iona and Susan shared a very special bond until her passing.
Iona started a new career in the medical field as a Coding Specialist. She was employed by St. Al’s and later by St. Luke’s, until her retirement. She loved being in Boise and looked forward to the special weekend outings with her children. Camping, riding the Green Belt, fishing, and snow skiing, just to name a few. For a time she and daughter, Sheri traveled to various cities, attending special venues, and selling novelties. Iona was so proud of her son, Burton Webb III, serving in the United States Navy for four years.
Iona was a proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Skyler Fisher, Tristan Lassiter, Dashia Lassiter and Deakon Webb. She was looking forward to meeting the newest addition (granddaughter) to the family. Daughter of Kelly and Burton Webb expected in November. She was also a great grandmother to Conner Fisher. She looked forward to attending Skyler and Tristan’s special events, Dacia’s gymnastic competitions, and going to air shows with Deakon. She loved having sleep over’s with them and making waffles, German hotcakes, and French toast.
Burton, Sheri, and Toni remember their mother as a very loving and caring person. Not to just them, but to anyone that needed help. “She would have given her last dollar or the shirt off her back. Her home was always open when someone needed help.” They say with great pride.
Toni returned from Florida in October 2017 to be the caregiver of her mother. She was an excellent caregiver and provided much love and support through these last months. Toni was highly recognized for being an amazing caregiver and daughter, “Be proud of the love and care you provided,” by St. Luke’s Hospice. Grandson, Skyler shared the home with Toni and assisted in “Nana’s” daily needs. Skyler was so helpful and loving with his “Nana.” The family gives special thanks to Toni and Skyler for all they have done and the wonderful care she received.
You are deeply loved by many and will be missed. We love you Mom and you’ll forever be in our hearts!
Special thanks to everyone for their overwhelming support that we have received from St. Luke’s Hospice, i.e., Allison, Patty, Merrill, Heather, Cassie, Ian, and Norm.
Special thanks to Bowman Funeral Home for all your compassion and support.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.

August 8, 2020 at 1:42 pmIona worked for many years at my ENT provider office near St Lukes. I enjoyed seeing her at my appointments. She was so kind. I stopped going to that ENT provider and found another one. I missed not being able to see Iona. Several years after, my mom was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I took my mom to her oncology appt and guess who was sitting at the front desk! Iona! Oh my joy to see her again!! I had missed her smile and sincerity so much. She was a sweet sweet lady and my condolences to her family.
