Helen May Hansen passed away on February 27 in Eagle, Idaho.
She was born in Sumpter, Oregon. When she was 4 yrs old the family moved to Grass Valley, Calif where she started school along with her older sisters. A few years later the family moved back to Sumpter and Helen completed 6th grade. The family then moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, where Helen went the next 3 yrs of school. The family then moved to Boise, Idaho where her father built a new home for them off Shoshone St. in Boise and Helen graduated from Boise High School. In April of 1950 Helen met Doug Hansen through a girl-friend and was married 3 weeks later on May 12, 1950. Bob was born in ’51 and they bought their first new home. Susan was born in ’55 and Gary in ’57 and Tammi in ’59. We lost our infant daughter Cheryl Ann at 6 weeks old from SIDS in 1953.
Helen worked 30 years in the insurance industry in Boise for General Adjustment Agency and Argonaut Insurance Co. as an insurance adjuster. Her last 10 years were spent in Honolulu, HI, working in insurance until November of 1986 wherein Helen + Dough retired and returned to the mainland.
Helen + Doug enjoyed playing golf all across the U.S.A. when they travelled in their motor home. They also made many trips to England, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Hungary and then decided to go on a cruise, 13 in all.
We had 2 grandchildren and enjoyed our time with them, leaving us wonderful memories.
Helen was preceded in death by both parents and all three older sisters and their spouses. Her husband, Doug passed away on November 30, 2016.
Helen is survived by their four children, Robert A. Hansen (Marrisa K.) Eagle, ID; Susan K. Hansen, Honolulu, HI; Gary D. Hansen, Boise, ID; Tamme R. Hansen, Meridian, ID; grandchildren Ryan A. Hansen, Boise, ID; Donna K. Bush (Brian) and two great granddaughters Adeline and Emily living in McCall, ID.
Helen leaves numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no services by Helen’s request. Bowman Funeral Home will be in charge of internment at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
