On December 13, 2021, Gregg Martin Olsen (68) of Eagle, Idaho passed away peacefully.
The son of Fern Marie Larsen and Laverne Olsen, Gregg grew up in the Pacific Northwest.
In 1981, Gregg met the love of his life, Deborah “Debbie” Jean McKean, and they married in Anchorage, Alaska, on September 17, 1983. Together they had three sons, Stephen, Michael and Jonathan; three daughters-in-law, Hailey, Carolyn and Michelle; and two grandsons Ryder and Roman.
Gregg’s family was the most important thing in his life. As a husband, Gregg loved Debbie as much as possible every day, and the next day he loved her even more. As a father, Gregg instilled in his children the importance of hard work and perseverance; he encouraged his kids to follow through on their commitment to pursue excellence in every endeavor. Despite being a novice on ice skates himself, he coached all three of his boys to championship hockey teams.
From becoming a stockbroker to a financial planner to a real estate developer, and most recently to building a successful Miracle-Ear franchise across 10 states with his family, Gregg was self-taught in nearly every endeavor he pursued. Gregg was unique in that he was only looking for extraordinary people to build an extraordinary company; and he accomplished this with his family and friends with great pride.
As a businessman and in his personal life, Gregg had a philosophy grounded in the power of the individual and his potential, with an attitude of abundance. He took great pride in helping young people become the best versions of themselves- often telling people, “you get out of life what you put into it”, and “if you work it easy it’s hard, but if you work it hard it’s easy.” When he wasn’t in the office, he could be found in his backyard enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Boise River.
Gregg’s family describes him as a hero, a guardian and larger than life. An honest and devoted father, a diligent and passionate businessman and a man of action. Gregg Olsen is greatly missed by the many lives he touched and inspired.
A celebration of life will be held, 6:00 pm, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Home Office, 10557 W. Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City, Idaho.
A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Monday, December 20, 2021 at Foothills Christian Church, 9655 W. State St., Boise with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am. A committal service will follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.
