Carol, 66, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho after developing pneumonia related to COVID-19.

Carol was born to Hudon Byars Jr. and Ruth Ellen Dibben Byars on October 4, 1954 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Carol married Richard Earl Brock in Rome, Georgia in 1971. She was a single mom for 14 years. While working, Carol received her GED, going to school at night, and raising 3 children. With her GED she was able to improve her job skills and buy her first home, although her favorite job was “Lunch Lady” in the Boise School District. Carol married Donald Eugene Canning in 1998. The marriage ended in 2018.

Carol was a hard worker, but due to arthritis complications she was forced into early retirement. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening, camping, movies and most of all playing with her grandkids. Carol spent the last 3 years living with her daughter April’s family.

Carol had 3 brothers. She is survived by her older brother Donald Byars of Georgia and John Henry Byars and wife Susann of Idaho. Carol’s younger brother Hugh Dean Byars preceded her in death in 2016.

Carol’s oldest child, Richard Scott Brock of Georgia passed away in 2001 leaving behind his wife Krystal Brock and two children, Seth and Beth Brock. Her second child Owen Lance Brock of Idaho has two children, Kathryn Brock Caffey and Taylor Brock. Her youngest child, April Brock Porter and her husband Doug Porter of Idaho, have two children Daisy and Wyatt, as well as step-son Dakota Porter.
