EVA MAE MAXINE COUNTER July 28, 1929 - January 9, 2019

Eva M. Counter passed away at her Boise home on January 9th, 2019.  Eva was born in Dagget, Michigan on July 28, 1929 to Alfred and Martha Sands.  Eva graduated from Stephenson High School in 1947.  After graduation she moved to Chicago where she worked for a publishing company and the telephone company.  In 1951 Eva moved west where she worked for Industrial Indemnity and the Breast Cancer Detection Center in Boise.

On February 28, 1966, Eva married Allen Counter. They spent the next 51 years by each other’s side loving each other and enjoying their life with family and friends. Al and Eva shared a love of collecting and restoring antiques. After retirement, they spent several summers traveling in their fifth wheel to Lake Havasu, AZ.  They loved attending Dixieland Music Festivals in Lake Havasu and Sun Valley.  Eva was always quick to lend a hand to a neighbor, friend or family member.  She was a kind and sweet lady loved by her family and friends.

Eva is survived by her stepchildren Steve (Diane) Counter and Joanie (Steve) Stearns, grandchildren Marissa (Mitch) Evans, AJ Counter, Misty Stearns, Steve Stearns and Cory Stearns.  She is also survived by her nephew Norman Roden of Texas and niece Patty Stumpf of Illinois.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Al, her parents, sister Pearl Roden and brother Glenn Sands.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and St. Luke’s Hospice for the care given to Eva.  Thank you to Janet Robinson Hackett for the care and comfort she gave to Eva over the last few weeks.  A special thanks to the “girls”, Cindy and Stephanie Trail who Eva loved as her own.  The love, care and support you provided was appreciated by Eva and the family.

Until we see you again, we love you and we will miss your beautiful smile and kind heart. You will forever be in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 9:30 AM at Bowman Funeral Home, 10254 West Carlton Bay Drive, Garden City, ID.
