Eileen M. Weimer October 24, 1929 - January 2, 2024

Eileen M. Weimer

Eileen M. Weimer, 94, passed away in Boise, ID the morning of January 2, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She was born October 24, 1929, in Idaho Falls, ID as the second child of four children born to Charles and Vonda Williams; with Kay, LaRue, and Delwyn as siblings.

Eileen grew up around the Idaho Falls area, attended Idaho Falls High School, and went on to be trained as a beautician that led to a home business as well as working in a variety of beauty shops in the Rexburg and Idaho Falls area. During her high school years, she was often found in the field during potato harvest with her sister, LaRue. She also loved to dance – where she met and later married Johnny Weimer on August 9, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had four children during their time together and lived in Rexburg, ID; Ogden, UT; Broomfield, CO; Arco, ID; and Idaho Falls, ID; and ultimately settling in Boise, ID in 1982. Eileen was active in the LDS church and served in many capacities over her lifetime. She was an avid seamstress and always had a crafting project underway that often included her children, but she especially loved making things for her grandkids. Eileen always made things for her friends, kids, and grandkids; many of which are in use today. She loved to quilt and very much enjoyed making very elaborate quilts. She made sure every new family member got a hand-made quilt. As the grandkids grew, she would make them hats and fleece jackets. She often went to activities for the grandkids – soccer, softball, piano recitals.

Eileen had a wicked sense of humor, was very outgoing and friendly, fostering long lasting friendships that spanned many wards, years and cities. Ironically, Eileen worked in a donut shop during school but later revealed that she didn’t like donuts; however, she was crazy for Tab, fudge bars, popcorn, and Milk Chocolate Lindor Truffles. She was always very active and would have morning exercise finished before she got the kids off to school. She could be found walking or riding her bike long into retirement and enjoyed going to Curves 3 days a week before Covid. She enjoyed traveling and visiting friends often with homemade treats and gifts in hand. Eileen was an excellent cook and always make special things for holidays, including the famously remembered candy trains with her grandkids.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Vonda; siblings Kaye Williams (Costa Mesa, CA), LaRue Pack (Idaho Falls, ID), and her husband Johnny Weimer (Boise, ID). She is survived by her children Monte (Debbie) Weimer (Vancouver, WA), Shelby Weimer (Orange Park, FL), Joni Porter (Boise, ID), and Bart Weimer (Davis, CA). Her legacy is carried on by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
