Esther ‘Irene’ Ferguson, 93, left us to meet the Lord on April 6, 2022. The Lord took her peacefully with gentle hands.
Irene was born July 17, 1928, in Verona, Missouri to Alonzo & Mable Conrad. She was the second child out of seven and was a natural born caretaker. The family resided in Missouri until Irene was 11 and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in the summer of 1939. Her family moved to Fairfield, Oregon, just outside of Gresham, in 1943. During World War II, she proudly worked in the Vanport, Oregon shipyard to help support her family. She became a welder on pontoon boats and was proud to be one of the famous ‘Rosie the Riveters’. Once the war ended, the family moved back to the Twin Falls, Idaho area, where she met Clifford ‘Cliff’ Ferguson. Cliff was the love of her life, and they were married on January 1, 1956. They were happily married for 42 years. Together they moved around several times trying to find the perfect place to share their life together. They finally settled down in Nampa, Idaho and this is where they spent many happy years together. Cliff passed away in 1997 and Irene stayed in the home they shared together for many years after his death. She became very active and involved in her church as a servant leader in every way possible. She loved to sing and was a proud member of The Grace Notes Choir for several years. That lead to Irene having the opportunity to travel with the choir to places like Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Canada. She loved these trips and enjoyed the fun adventures with her choir family.
Irene was very social with friends and family. She loved to participate in activities and social events, like Bingo and weekly coffee dates with friends. Irene was an Angel to every person she met while she was with us and now, she is an Angel looking down on us.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon and Charlette, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 1 sister, and so many special friends.
