Debra Sue Wiker passed away peacefully April 28, 2021
Debbie was born to Gordon and Patricia Haustveit December 29, 1964 in Boise Idaho. She attended Whitney Elementary, South Jr High and Borah High School. She is the sixth child of eight and always Daddy’s favorite. (as she would always say)
She was surrounded by her family and friends from the day we learned of her cancer. Her husband Curtis never left her side. Debbie fought so hard, she is the toughest, strongest person we know. Even when she was so weak she would say get me out of this bed, she wanted to be in the sunshine.
Debbie met Curtis Wiker at the Western Idaho Fair in August 1995. She loved telling the story of how they met to anyone who would listen. It was love at first sight. They were married June 8, 1996. They attended the fair every year since and would always have front row seats to the country music concerts. She wore a cowboy hat that she would have autographed by the artists.
Curtis was an avid bow hunter and to her family’s surprise she became one also. They were members of the Idaho State Bow Hunter’s Organization and the Treasure Valley Bow Hunters Club. Debbie is a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Debbie was an amazing shot with her bow and harvested so many animals. She was awarded female bow hunter of the year from the Idaho State Bow Hunters organization twice and numerous times from Treasure Valley Bow Hunters. She was also awarded Female State Champion archer four times.
Debbie loved the outdoors, camping with family and friends, fishing with her Dad and for the last couple of years enjoying the property in Centerville. Once she was there she did not want to come back to Boise. She loved sitting on the porch and quickly made friends with the neighbors.
Debbie was working for Valley View Elementary until she became ill, she loved the students and staff she worked with and “Miss Debbie” will be missed by so many. The staff at school cared for her so much they organized a surprise parade. She was so excited to see everyone drive by with signs, balloons and of course diet coke. What a wonderful gift you gave her. Our family thanks the staff from the bottom of our hearts.
Debbie loved her granddaughters Averie and Danielle more than anything. She inspired strength and wisdom in them that will last a lifetime. The girls loved hanging with grammy, shopping snuggling or just being together. Debbie assured the girls that she will always be with them watching over them and guiding them from Heaven.
We will miss her beautiful smile, infectious laugh and of course her sense of humor. All who knew her loved her.
Debbie is survived her husband Curtis, daughter Kimberly, son Preston, granddaughters Averie and Danielle. Brothers Rick (Chris) Haustveit, John (Kristi) Haustveit, Mark (Wendy) Haustveit, Brother in law Mitch Christian, sisters Patty (Randy) Jennings, Nancy (Tracy) Tuck, Aunts, Uncles and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her in law’s Allen and Barbara Frentress, brother Ron Haustveit and sister Cyndi Christian.
