Born January 20th 1952 in Nyssa Or, to Donald Eugene and Gwendolyn Ilene Simpson. The second child and only boy of four children. Darrell grew up on the family farm on Riverview Dr. attending Adrian school for his whole life and graduated in 1970 as a proud antelope. He lived in multiple towns but resided back in his hometown of Nyssa where he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 1st, 2020.
In September of 73 Darrell married Linda Austin. In July of 1976 they had their only child, a baby boy making him a proud Father of Ryan Simpson, unfortunately the marriage didn’t last. In 1984 Darrell married Debbie Simpson and became a proud father yet again in May of 1985 another baby boy, Jan Michael Simpson then again in January of 1988 his last Baby boy joined the family Dustin Simpson. Even though they divorced, Darrell loved each of his boys so much.
In October of 1992 Darrell met his birthday twin, soulmate and love of his life, Mary Kyleene Parks. After 3 weeks of dating they realized they had met and went on a date before in 1980 but neither was in a spot to settle down at that time. Destiny had finally brought them back together. He quickly became a loving step father to her 2 children Paul Parks and Tamara Cleaver. Darrell and Mary spent the last 28 almost 29 years together doing what they both enjoyed most. Darrell had many hobbies which he shared with Mary which includes hunting, fishing, camping, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling and water skiing. Both avid outdoor enthusiasts they did as much as they could until he could no longer enjoy himself. Darrell started his cancer battle in 2010 with Mary by his side every step of the way. In August of 2010 he went in and had his left kidney removed, removing a cancerous tumor and putting him into remission. He continued to work at the sugar factory where he had worked for a total of 36 yrs between the Nyssa and the Nampa factory until he was forced to take a medical retirement in 2014. In May of 2019 Darrell had discovered that his kidney cancer was back. It had moved into his spleen, stomach, in each lung and between his lungs. So began another battle against the horrible disease. Treatment was hard on him and in March of 2020 he made the decision to quit his chemo treatments and live his life to the fullest. Unfortunately in September out of the blue it finally wore him down.
