Clinton A. Chaney

Clinton Albert Chaney was born on February 23rd, 1940, to Wilbur and Alice Chaney. Clint grew up at 2807 Bannock in downtown Boise less than a block away from Whittier Elementary School. He was a self-described wanderer and loved being able to hike and explore nature around the Boise River when he was growing up. When Clint was 10 years old he was blessed with a baby sister, Linda. He attended Boise High until his senior year when Borah High School was opening and was in the first graduating class of 1958. After High School he attended Boise Junior College for a time, which is now Boise State University.

In 1963 Clint met Doris McCoy and after a 3-year courtship they were married on May 28th, 1966 in Nampa, Idaho. In 1970 they welcomed their first son, Allen. Then son Ben, in 1972 and daughter Janna in 1973. Because Clint enjoyed the outdoors, he and Doris often took their children camping at Murdock Creek near Sun Valley when the kids were young. Clint and Doris shared 45 years of marriage and then in January of 2012 Doris passed from complications of Alzheimer’s.

Clint had an extremely hard work ethic. Over the years he worked for the Boise Cascade print shop, Boise Vault, ? Plumbing, Hansen Painting for many years painting mostly bridges, and eventually homes. He retired while working for Prestige Homes.

One of Clint’s passions was photography and he operated Chaney Photography for several years specializing in outdoor landscapes and wedding photography. He had his own dark room to develop his work before commercial labs became more convenient. Many of his pictures were featured in a publication called Incredible Idaho back in the 1970’s. In later years he loved to go hiking and taking photos in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in Oregon.

After retirement in 2005, Clint discovered another passion for rocks. He enjoyed hunting for them and then bringing them home to cut, polish, and turn into pieces of jewelry to give away. He especially liked making crosses that could be worn as necklaces. He also truly loved volunteering at Mission Aviation Fellowship in Nampa, Idaho and commented often how much he wished he could have kept serving there.

When Clint was 23 years old he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and that decision changed his life dramatically. He would often say, “I wish someone would have told me sooner”. Over the years he and his family attended Second Baptist Church on Curtis and then Overland, Mountain View Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, University Baptist Church and eventually Cloverdale Church of God.

Clint was extremely proud of his three children and always dreamed they would all live on the same property together with their spouses and children.

Clint passed peacefully of natural causes to be with the Lord on September 9th, 2024 at Swan Falls Assisted Living under the care of Aspen Hospice.

Clinton is survived by his son Allen Chaney and wife Susie of Meridian, Idaho. His son Ben Chaney and wife Cristy of Meridian, Idaho.
