Carolyn Anderson Locander, 96 years old, passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2024, in Boise. She was born in Ogden, Utah on November 22, 1927, a daughter of William Edward and Lorna Carstensen Anderson. She was the eldest of three daughters.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University where she was active in the Chi Omega sorority and R.O.T.C. Sponsor Corps. She met and married U. Blair Locander in their senior year. After graduation they moved to Boise where she resided until her death.
She had worked for Syms York, Broadbent Development and later Equitable Life. She joined the Methodist church and sang in their choir over 10 years.
She was a member of the Junior league of Boise where she became a certified braillest by the library of Congress. She was active in the community and was named Statesman’s Distinguished Citizen in 1992. She had been a world traveler.
Carolyn was divorced from Blair Locander. She later married Myron Gilbert, and they also divorced.
She is survived by two daughters; Susan Locander Clemons, and Deborah Locander Lindemood; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kay Anderson Ballif of Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Sandra Anderson Nuttall of Salt Lake City.
