Buster Prater
January 20, 1926 – August 4, 2021
Dad died of natural causes in his home in Boise, Idaho.
He was the son of William and Ocie Prater. He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma. He had 7 siblings.
He met Dorothy Gembala in 1950 and they married. They had 3 daughters: Michelle Prater, Carol Wright, and Dawn Joslin. He also had 7 grandkids and many great grandkids.
Bus worked for Idaho Power from 1965 to 1986. He retired at Oxbow Maintenance in Oregon.
Dad loved to fish and hunt and was good at anything he did and had many hobbies such as woodworking, gardening, welding, and making earrings. He also started writing poetry after Dorothy died.
Dad never knew a stranger and was kind and thoughtful to everyone. He always had a joke to tell to someone!
He will be greatly missed and was very loved by his family.
Following is a poem he wrote:
His Promise
Look up don’t be sad or weep,
I haven’t departed, I’m only asleep.
No more will I ever feel alone,
My debts are all paid, I’m going home.
Life was so full of pain and strife,
Now no more struggles in this life.
I know that down the road there lies,
Love and peace beyond the next rise.
God’s promise to us will now unfold,
We will now walk the streets paved with gold.
I know God will meet me at the gate,
I’ll hasten my pace, I won’t be late.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
