Bridget Lynn Highfill (Barnes)
Born May 1, 1962 at St. Luke’s Boise. Bridget was born with beautiful dark curly hair. The nursing staff played with her hair and placed deep purple lilac in her hair for May Day. By the age of one, Bridget was given the nickname Fidgety Bridgety since she never sat still. Bridget had a rescue heart. She fed, clothed, and housed countless children, teens, and adults. Her happy places were the ocean, cooking and a good BBQ on a not so hot sunshiny day, where she could feed people five-star Prime Rib with all the fixings and cheesecake, listen to music and dance. A song she would often start singing is a classic by Janis Joplin…It goes, “Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends. I worked hard all my lifetime. No help from my friends. Oh Lord, Won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?”
The Lord arrived with her Mercedes Benz on April 23, 2021. She was proceeded in death by daughter Ashley Derks, and Father Jack Barnes. Survived by significant other Bud, son James Derks (Noelle), stepdaughter Autumn, Mother Katherine Spangenberg (David), stepmom Pamela Barnes, siblings; Shannon, Christopher (Joy), Todd (Mireya), plus grandchildren Faye and Slate, nieces, and nephews. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by those of us that loved her.
