Lt. Colonel Brian J. Wood
Brian was born in Amityville, New York to John and Frances Wood. He was proud of his Long Island roots and considered himself a “native New Yorker” despite serving 28 years in the Air Force and traveling as a nurse consultant to many parts of the United States. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Lt. Colonel and formed many lasting friendships during his years traveling as a nurse leader. Airplanes and flying stayed dear to his heart and Brian could often be caught staring skyward to identify whatever plane was overhead.
Brian passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a long, difficult battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Brian is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughter Emily (Carl); sister, Kathy (Tom); and his grandchildren Blare, Tessah “Noah”, and Dominic. Also survived by his stepdaughters Whitney (Tom) and Lindsay (Derek) and their families.
Laid to rest 02/23/2023 at 11:00 am at the Idaho Veteran’s Cemetery, honoring his military service and love of Country.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Brian’s honor to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
