Arlene Carrie Kolar February 26, 1947 - November 22, 2021

Arlene Carrie Kolar passed away peacefully on November 22, 2021. She was born in Hyannis Nebraska on February 26, 1947 to Ben and Avis Goslin. As a young girl her family moved to Cascade, Idaho where she graduated from Cascade High in 1965.

After graduating she attended Boise State University briefly and then moved to Horseshoe Bend, Idaho where she eventually met her husband Tony Kolar. They went on to have to two sons, Beau and Luke. While their sons were in their youth they always welcomed their friends into their home and provided a safe place to stay. Arlene always viewed these friends as extensions of her family and treated each and every one of them as if they were her own.

Arlene worked at Treasure Valley Bank in Horseshoe Bend before moving on to working for Boise County and then County Clerk. She served as the clerk for 14 years. After her service with Boise County she rediscovered her love for sewing and embroidery while working at Buck Bags until her retirement in 2005.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star organization and her titles held in this organization were: Past Honored Queen in the Bethel #33 International Order of Jobs Daughters (1965-1966 Cascade Idaho), Past Worthy Matron Mizpah Chapter #6 (1978 & 2012), Past Worthy Matron Adah Chapter #8 (2018), Grand Chaplain (2015-2016) and was asked to be Grand Organist (2019 & 2020). During her time in the organization it yielded her many lifelong friendships and many adventures across the state.

She was a talented musician, playing the piano from age seven. In 2020 one of her dreams came true and she was able to record an album of her playing some of her favorite songs on the piano. Her son Beau, who is also a talented musician, accompanied her by playing the cajon as well. The album was produced with the help of our dear friend Brenden Nickel. Her album is called Halfway to Nowhere. The pictures on the album cover are of some of her favorite places in Boise County. If you’d like a copy of the CD please call 775-815-2381 and leave a message and we will be sure to get one to you.

Arlene is proceeded in death by her husband Tony and her parents Ben and Avis Goslin. She is survived by Beau (Flower), Luke (Ashlee, Khloee, Kaddis and Barrett). Her siblings: Mourine, Ava, and Rodney; along with many nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.

Arlene will always be remembered for having a kind heart and not judging anyone. She touched many lives throughout her years with her blue eyes and beautiful smile. She was very generous and thoughtful.
