Ann Obray Smith was born to Arvin and Dona Obray September 22, 1946 in Ontario, Oregon.  She spent her youth on the farm playing and working with her siblings.  During her high school years she worked at the “In and Out Drive In” in Fruitland, loving the job, the money she made and buying her first car.

She moved with her family in 1962 from Payette to New Plymouth where she met and dated the love of her life, Bill Smith. She graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1964 and went on to Boise Business College.

Ann and Bill married in 1966 just before he was shipped out to Viet Nam.  She spent a lonely year waiting for his return.  When he did return, they were stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas where she was hired as the personal secretary for the 2nd in Command at the base. Upon returning to Boise in 1969, she was hired by the Senior Vice President of Ore-Ida and worked until they were blessed with their first child in 1973.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Throughout her life she served as a Ward Primary President, Ward and Stake Young Woman President, Stake Camp Director, Nursery Leader, and various teaching assignments. Each calling was done with love, compassion, joy, humility, and selflessness. She was an amazing leader as she was always concerned about “the One”. Bill and Ann served in the Birmingham, Alabama mission and were Boise Temple ordinance workers.

She was diagnosed with a brain cancer in January.  Her family cared for her with steadfastness, love, and devotion in their home until her death.  She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 57 years, Bill Smith of Nampa, Idaho; sons, Todd Smith, Emmett, Idaho; Scott Smith (Celeste), Meridian, Idaho; daughters, Tanya (David), Boise, Idaho; and Krystal (Alberto) Nampa, Idaho.  Her eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
