Alice Annette Finch died at home on April 10, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born May 16, 1933, in Pocatello, Idaho to Melvin Dean and Lucille Kinnersley Dean. Annette attended school in Pocatello, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1951. She attended Dennison University, in Granville, Ohio. Annette moved back to Pocatello, and married Wayne Finch of Pocatello in 1956. They had two sons, Douglas and Gregory. They were divorced in 1993.
The family lived in California from 1957 until 1970. Annette continued her education at Fresno State College, where she graduated with a degree in Education and credential in Special Education. The family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1970. Annette taught at Lincoln School, and then moved to Roosevelt Elementary, where she taught 5th grade for 2 years. She then taught 1st grade for the remainder of her career. Annette loved teaching 1st Grade, with a new batch of children every fall, so excited to learn to read. Annette was especially proud of her 29 years teaching in the Boise School District.
Annette volunteered with the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was an accomplished knitter, making beautiful afghans for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, attending the shows at the Morrison Center, and travelling with family and friends. She travelled to Europe, and cruised Alaska and the Panama Canal.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Annette are her sons, Douglas (Robin) Finch, and Gregory Finch, all of Boise; her sister, Margie Bogert, of Boise, and numerous nieces and nephews. Annette’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice.
