John Oster was born April 8, 1953 to Henry and Vivian Oster in Boise, Idaho.  Growing up John was active in scouts.

He sang at school and with the All City Choir.  He had a love of music all his life.  After high school, he joined the Navy and was in the Blue Jackets choir .  He was on a mine sweeper and on the ship the Coral Sea as an electrician’s mate. His ship was sent to Vietnam.

He worked at the State Capitol Building as and electrician and later worked at the Air Guard out at Gowen Field until he retired. John was always helping people that needed help.  John  was a life time member of the American Legion.  John loved to camp, fish and hunt . He was looking forward to camping with his grandchildren.   His wish was to live to see his grandchildren grow up.

He leaves behind his wife, Margie, married 40 years, a daughter Stephanie and 5 grandchildren.  He is survived by 3 brothers – Ron, Randy, Greg, and one sister Julie.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:30 am with a viewing beginning at 10:30 am at Bowman Funeral Parlor located at 10254 W. Carlton Bay with a committal service to be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00pm located at 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Road Boise, Idaho.
