William Gary "Bill" Pollett

William Gary "Bill" Pollett passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, devotion, and treasured stories.

On December 7, 1958, Bill married the love of his life, Brunhilde "Bernie" Hoppe. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 63 years of marriage before Bernie's passing in 2021. Bill worked hard to provide for his family and never stopped doting on his beloved wife, showering her with affection, thoughtful gifts, and unwavering devotion.

Known as Gary to his immediate family, he was the eldest of seven children. Intelligent and hardworking, he served in the military before building a distinguished career with the Department of Defense, where he eventually held a leadership role.

Bill was also fun-loving, easygoing, and a gifted storyteller, with just the right amount of mischief. One favorite family story involved teaching his younger brother to shoot a shotgun - while instructing him to hold it away from his shoulder. Stories like these captured Bill's playful spirit and remained part of the laughter he shared with those around him.

Above all, Bill loved his family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. He was dearly loved by his brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family, and many others whose lives he touched.

Bill will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, humor, generosity, and devotion. His stories will continue to be told, his laughter will be fondly remembered, and the love he gave so freely will live on through the generations of family who were fortunate to know him.

A Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, on October 9th at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise.
