United States Air Force SMSgt Wilbern Ray Singleton
Wilbern Ray Singleton, a distinguished United States Air Force veteran, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on July 3, 1936, in Arkansas, Ray was the youngest of four siblings. He spent his early years in Arkansas before moving to California as a teenager. At the age of 17, Ray joined the United States Air Force and served bravely in Korea during the Korean conflict. His dedication to his country continued with deployments to Turkey and Thailand, culminating in a notable career of 22 years that concluded with his retirement as Senior Master Sergeant from Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs on October 31, 1975.
Throughout his military service, Ray exemplified commitment and courage, leaving an indelible mark on those who served alongside him. His love for his country was only surpassed by his love for his family.
In 1955, Ray married the love of his life, Rosemary E. Robinson, and together they built a family rooted in love and support. They raised their three children, Rosanne, Rodney, and Ronald, while actively participating in the military community wherever they were stationed.
After retiring from the Air Force, Ray's entrepreneurial spirit led him to work alongside Rod at R. Singleton Masonry. He went on to work with Gallo Wine and drove as a long-haul driver for Atlas Van Lines. His second retirement came after 14 years with Malibu Boats. His careers allowed him and Rosemary to travel across the country, creating cherished memories.
In 1999, Ray and Rosemary settled in Idaho, where they enjoyed their retirement surrounded by family. Ray's days were filled with fishing, hunting with the boys, and the joy of watching his granddaughters grow.
Ray's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Rosemary, his children Rosanne, Rodney, and Ronald, and his grandchildren Wesley, Kristen (Cody) Nix, and Richelle (Josh) Furman, along with five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Jennie and T.S. Singleton, three siblings Cherylee, Clyde, Hazel, daughter-in-law Jamie Singleton, and several cherished doxies.
A traditional military service honoring Ray's remarkable service and life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise.
