Wallace C. "Wally" Perry passed away at his home in Boise, ID on August 7, 2024. Wally was born August 10, 1962 in Seattle, WA. He and his mom moved to Boise, ID in the late 1960's. He was a graduate of Boise High School. He spent much of his teenage years hunting, trapping and fishing. He put many miles on his little Chevy Luv pickup driving around in the mountains and desert surrounding Boise.
Wally enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1984. His duty stations included Coast Guard cutters USCGC Woodrush in Sitka, AK, USCGC Citrus and USCGC Orcas in Coos Bay, OR, and USCGC Tahoma in New Bedford, MA. He also spent time at Air Stations in North Bend, OR and Port Angeles, WA, finishing his career at Training Center Petaluma, CA where he served as chief of base police. He was on the commissioning crew of the Orcas when it made its maiden voyage from New Orleans to Coos Bay via the Panama Canal. Wally retired in 2005 as a Chief Gunner's Mate.
While stationed in Port Angeles he started racing in the Fever 4 series at the local speedway and was named Rookie of the Year.
Wally worked a variety of jobs after returning to Boise including Aarons Sales, Great Basin, Inc, Enterprise Rent a Car, the US Forest Service and the Boise VA Medical Center. He also completed 2 years of the Geomatics Program at Idaho State University and qualified as a Level 1 Certified Survey Technician.
He loved spending time outdoors and some of his favorite times after returning to Idaho were spent chukar hunting with his son Daniel and his Brittany Spaniel Buster.
Wally married Pam Newell in 1985 and although they divorced in 2019 they remained friends until his passing.
Wally is survived by his son Daniel Perry, sister Patricia Bertocchini, brother Robert Bertocchini, Sr, stepson Zach Kaiser and family, niece Tricia Lord and family and nephews Jack Bertocchini and Robert Bertocchini, Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn Smith (Black) and sister Diane Bertocchini.
The family requests donations be made to the Friends of the MK Nature Center in lieu of flowers.
Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W Carlton Bay Dr, Boise, ID.
