Torma Esplin Winegar passed away on May 26th, 2026 in Eagle, Idaho. Torma and her husband Dee were married for 66 years.
Torma was born April 8th, 1932 in Cedar City, Utah, to parents Rulon and La Vern (Fife) Esplin. Torma had two older sisters, Lyta and Clair, and soon welcomed two more sisters, Cleo and Joy and a brother, Greg to the family. She graduated from Cedar City High School in 1950 and went on to graduate from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1957.
Torma became a schoolteacher and taught in Valencia and Long Beach, CA, as well as in Adrian, OR. She taught Health and Physical Education.
She married Dee J. Winegar on June 23rd, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They made their home in Ontario, OR, where Dee farmed. They welcomed children Jeri, Jeff and Ron into their young family.
Torma served faithfully throughout her life in various positions in the LDS church. She was a graduate of “Charm School” and taught many youth over the years the importance of etiquette in their interactions and lives. Torma loved music and organized countless “programs” and parties throughout her life. She enlisted any willing (and sometimes unwilling) performers to join in the festivities. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her home was the favorite place to visit, stop over and hang out. If someone needed to feel loved and inevitably get fed a wonderful meal, that was the place to be. She even had a candy store in the back yard, where everything was priced at “three for a penny,” and she provided the pennies.
She is survived by her husband, Dee, daughter Jeri (Alan) Frum, sons Jeff (Carly) Winegar and Ron (Zelphie) Winegar, brother Greg (Judene) Esplin, eleven grandchildren and seventeen (and a half) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her four sisters Lyta (Bill) Manley, Clair (Richard) Herrick, Cleo (Jerry) Williams, and Joy (Jim) Rutledge.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:30 am, with a funeral service starting at 12:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 700 West State Street in Eagle Idaho. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bowmanfuneral.com.
