Thomas Patrick Maher

Thomas Patrick Maher, 82, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Born in Akron, Ohio, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Thomas dedicated his life to service, family, and community. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and later established a distinguished 33-year career with AT&T, where he was known for his professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic. Following his retirement, Thomas continued his commitment to serving others by driving a school bus for 19 years, ensuring the safe transportation of countless students.

Thomas was a committed member of the Knights of Columbus, faithfully upholding the organization’s principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. He was also deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America, contributing to youth development for many years. In addition to receiving the esteemed Silver Beaver Award, he dedicated nine summers to working at Camp Morrison, where he made a lasting impact on scouts and leaders alike.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Maher; his sons Matthew, Daniel and his wife Aimee, and Peter and his wife Abby; his granddaughters Paige, Morgan, and Hazel; his grandsons Benjamin and Josiah; and his great-granddaughter, Amira. He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marie Maher, and his brother, Paul Maher.

A lifelong supporter of Boston sports, Thomas remained a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan throughout his life.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life in the spring of 2026 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where relatives and friends will gather to honor his memory.
