Thomas J. Dobroth September 3, 1948 – May 3, 2025

Thomas Julius Dobroth, 76, of Eagle, Idaho, passed away at home on May 3, 2025, after battling cancer. A proud Idahoan, Tom was born on September 3, 1948, in Lewiston, to Julius and Martha (Riggers) Dobroth. He was the youngest of four children, growing up with three older sisters.

Tom graduated from Lewiston High School and earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Computer Science from the University of Idaho. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974 as an electronics technician, stationed at Treasure Island, California. After his military service, Tom returned to Idaho and built his own home in Lewiston—a testament to his determination and skill. He went on to have a successful career as a computer programmer, working for employers including Texas Instruments, Boeing, and Albertsons Corporate Office.

In his youth, he enjoyed camping and hunting elk and deer with his Uncle Albert. He also shared a love of sports with his mother, listening to Idaho Vandals games on the radio and attending Lewiston Broncs games together. Tom had a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Idaho. His favorite places included the Sawtooth Range and Pack River in the Selkirk Mountains, where he loved to hike, fish, and pick huckleberries.

On December 30, 1979, Tom married Christi (Moser) Dobroth, in Lewiston. Together they raised Zach and Megan in Eagle, Idaho. Camping with his wife and kids and trips to the Oregon Coast were often summer highlights. Tom enjoyed playing cards (pinochle) and softball, and was a passionate fan of the Idaho Vandals, Seattle Mariners, and Seattle Seahawks. In his later years, he was a proud grandpa who cherished his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Christi; his sisters Marilyn Tribe and Julene (Tom) Daniels; his children Zachary (Carmen) Dobroth, Megan (Jeffrey) Palmer, Susan Lopez, and Timothy (Wendy) Daniels; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Arnold.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 15th at Eagle Seventh-day Adventist Church.
