Tammy Ann Ptomey peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 60. Tammy was born in Toledo, Ohio.

Tammy grew up in rural Monroe County, Michigan, where she built lifelong friendships through various extracurricular activities. She was the first-chair trombonist and a frequent choir soloist. After completing high school, Tammy acquired a nursing degree, which aligned with her lifelong passion for selflessly helping others.

After marrying Brian Ptomey in 1987, they resettled in Central California. Upon settling in Hollister, Tammy achieved the pinnacle of her career as a lecturer in the nursing department at Gavilan College. Tammy and Brian later moved to the Tahoe area, where she created some of her fondest memories. She embraced new hobbies such as hiking, mountain biking, and skiing—even conquering double black diamond slopes. At this stage of her life, she assisted Brian in administrative duties for the family plumbing business. She also stayed busy working as a nurse and specifically enjoyed working in the maternity ward. This was a natural progression into motherhood for her.

After the birth of her beloved son Luke, Brian and Tammy set down roots in Garden Valley, Idaho. She quickly fostered numerous connections throughout the small community. She befriended everyone she crossed paths with and once again helped others as a nurse at the local medical clinic. Tammy took delight in leisurely walks with close friends and helping organize numerous fundraisers to support her son’s school sports teams with some of the local mothers, together known as the “Mom Squad.” She also shared her abundance of happiness with everyone she met. Most of all, Tammy loved being a phenomenal mother.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Brian Ptomey; her son, Luke Ptomey; her mother, Nancy Bowling; her brother, Jim Bowling; as well as her nephew, Ethan Bowling, and niece, Alex Bowling. She is now at peace, reunited with her father, James Bowling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowman Funeral Chapel, 10254 W Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City, Idaho.
