Susan (Sue) Audrey Rau O’Connor
Susan "Sue" Audrey O'Connor (née Rau), 65, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family. She faced rare complications from her 2021 breast cancer treatment with the same strength and determination that defined her life.
Born on September 26, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sue lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering honesty. She was a vibrant and fun-loving woman who cherished her family and friends above all else. Known for her direct nature, Sue never left anyone guessing where they stood with her. Her circle was one of deep loyalty and love. Her favorite saying, “Mean people suck” was as succinct and to the point as she was. Her fairness and level-headed wisdom made her a trusted confidante to many, and those who knew her often sought her advice. Her laughter was infectious and ever-present, a gift she shared freely with those around her.
Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Chris O'Connor; her beloved daughter, Piper Cabaltera; her cherished granddaughter, Violet Cabaltera; and her son-in-law, Meir Cabaltera. She also leaves behind her father, Harold Rau; and siblings Shirley Rau, Sandy Jordan, and Stan Rau. Her family takes comfort in remembering the joy she brought into their lives rather than focusing on the sorrow of her passing.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on March 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the home she shared with Chris O'Connor at 5491 N. Crimson Way in Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s name may be made to the American Lung Association. Sue’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those she loved.
